New Designation from the National Association of Realtors

In any type of market, the sign of a good real estate agent is continuous education to keep up with the changing times. An interest in environmental issues is one sign of the times. The Green Resource Council of the National Association of Realtors has created a new Green Designation for agents.

In order to earn this designation agents must complete training sessions either in person or online. Sessions cover topics including environmentally friendly building techniques, marketing to green consumers, cost savings and energy efficiency of green features. The first training session to earn the designation was held at the NAR annual conference.

A Realtor who is knowledgeable about environmental issues is an asset to a buyer. Even in the current economic crunch many consumers are willing to pay more for green features to take advantage of potential long term savings. Some seller’s looking to set their home apart in a highly competitive market are starting to add attractive green features to their homes.
