Somerville Sampler Kicks off Restaurant Week

Yesterday’s Somerville Sampler marked the beginning of Restaurant Week in Somerville. Almost 100 local businesses took part in the event.  Restaurants like Alfonso’s, The Melting Pot, Gabriela’s Authentic Portuguese Cuisine, and Scampi’s Seafood offered free samples of their fairs to attendees.  Discovery Wine had $2 wine specials as well as tastings.  If the free samples didn’t fill you up Cedar’s Lebanese attracted crowds with $2 plates of some of their specialties.

There were plenty of other activities to take part in and enjoy once you had eaten your fill.  There were bands to enjoy, swing dance demonstrations and lessons, and decorating seminars.  The kids were not forgotten by the Big Little Railroad shop who had a Thomas the Tank Engine model train and a car racing track for kids of all ages to enjoy.

If you missed Saturday’s event you are not too late to take advantage of the three course prix fixe dinner menu that many restaurants will be offering throughout the week.  If you have been waiting to try a new Restaurant or if it has been a while since you have visited an old favorite, now is the time!  Restaurant week runs until next Saturday September 27th.
