New Jersey Gas Prices on the Rise

John Bendall owner of Re/Max Classic Group discusses the rising price of driving in New Jersey.

Gas PumpSummer vacation driving is still months away but gas prices in New Jersey are already on the rise.  The average price of gas just reached $3 a gallon.  While this is still lower than the majority of the country most drivers are concerned about how high prices will go with warmer weather still ahead.  Last year at this time the average price per gallon was only $2.42.

What can Garden State Drivers do to beat the high cost of filling up?  Unfortunately here in Central New Jersey there are not a whole lot of public transportation options.  The exception is commuting to the city.  There are regular trains running to NYC and there is also the option of park and ride.  Unless you are really conveniently located within walking distance of bus or train lines you will still probably have to drive at least to the train station.

If you simply have to drive other options include car pooling, which if you can manage can significantly bring down the cost of commuting.  It also pays to empty out your trunk of any unnecessary items.  The lighter you can keep your automobile the less gas you burn.  If you do drive you will eventually have to fill up here are a couple of websites that can help you find the most affordable gas prices in your area www.gasbuddy.com, and www.newjerseygasprices.com.
