Say Cheese at the next Traffic Light

John Bendall owner of Re/Max Classic Group discusses possible instalation of cameras at traffic lights in New Jersey.

Technology has done so much to improve our quality of life, but at what cost.  There are many that will argue that the ever increasing use of technology for security measures is becoming somewhat invasive.  The average person going about there day to day business is photographed dozens of times and New Jersey may be adding one more.  Some municipalities are considering installing cameras which will potentially catch drivers disobeying traffic signals.

These types of cameras are in use in many communities across the country and according to supporters they help to improve driving safety.  The technology has grown increasingly more available and affordable which has made it more appealing in many areas.  The cameras would photograph violators and then they would be sent tickets through the mail.

Those opposed to the use of traffic light cameras argue that they rob the accused the chance to face their accuser in court.  It is also possible that the registered owner of the car could receive a ticket regardless of who was driving the car at the time.  New Jersey is considering a five year pilot program to determine the effectiveness of such cameras.
