Selling your home during the holidays

John Bendall owner of Re/Max Classic Group points out some good reasons to think about selling during the holidays.

For those of you who are thinking about waiting until the holidays are over to sell your home, think again.  Now may be the perfect time to put your home on the market and stay ahead of the competition.

11 Reasons for marketing your home during the holiday!

      1.  People who look for a home during the Holidays are more serious buyers.

  1. Serious buyers have fewer houses to choose from during the Holidays and less competition means more money for you.

  2. The supply of listings will dramatically increase in January and there will be less demand for your particular home! Less demand means less money for you.

  3. Houses show better when decorated for the Holidays.

  4. Buyers are more emotional during the Holidays, so they are more likely to pay a little more for what they want.

  5. Buyers have more time to look for a home during the week when they are off for the Holidays.

  6. Some people must buy before the end of the year for tax reasons.

  7. January is traditionally the month for employees to begin new jobs. Because transferees cannot wait until spring to buy, you must be on the market now to capture those buyers.

  8. You can still be on the market throughout the six or seven days of actual Holidays by exercising the option to restrict showings to suit your needs.

  9. You can sell now for more money and we will provide for a delayed closing or extended occupancy until early next year.

  10. By selling now, you may have an opportunity to be a non-contingent buyer during the spring, when many more houses are on the market for less money. This will allow you to sell high and buy low.
