Now’s the Time to Sharpen your Skills

There are a number of challenges facing Realtors in the current market.  Homes are taking longer to sell, prices are leveling off, and financing can be harder to come by.  Times like these provide an opportunity to set your self apart from the pack.  This type of a market is likely to eliminate many agents from the business.  People who got into the business thinking that there is easy money to be made, may bow out now that the going is a little tougher. 

 

Those with a little more experience and fortitude can take the opportunity that this market provides to improve their skills and knowledge.  There is always more to learn, even if you’re a seminar junkie.  You will need to turn a critical eye on your self in order to accurately determine where your weaknesses are.  That way you can choose training based on your needs.  A newer agent may want to concentrate on area information, or negotiating skills.  Someone who has been in the business for many years may need to upgrade some of their technology skills.

 

You may also want to take this time to brush up on some of the basics.  Make cold calls, especially if you’ve been too busy to do it for a while.  Get back in touch with past clients and your sphere of influence.  These are things that are often overlooked in a hot market and can be great sources of business when things cool down.
