Pursue Perfection & Catch Excellence On Your Way!
Socrates once said, "Whether you are the General or the Street Sweeper, dedicate yourself to being the absolute best General or Street Sweeper you can be." Flip the switch. Flip the switch in your mind that frees you from the strife and struggles of mediocrity. Dedicate yourself to being in the top 1%. Dedicate yourself to excellence.
Find somebody who does what you do excellently and model their systems, processes, attitudes, and services. Pursue perfection and catch excellence on the way! Fuel the fire within by studying the best of your field, reading books on customer service and relationships, asking questions of mentors, and attending seminars, workshops, and classes focused on bettering your profession. Then take it a step further.
Teach others how to be excellent in their field. When you teach you take a different level of ownership of the information. You MUST know what you are talking about to present it to others. Take it upon yourself to teach others how to be excellent at what you do. Make sure your ideas are research-based and practiced.
Dedicate yourself to excellence. You will find it IS EASIER TO BE EXCELLENT THAN IT IS TO BE MEDIOCRE!!! Once you start the momentum in the right direction, the flywheel will turn on its own.
Keep it going by hanging around with other motivated people. Keep it going by reading inspirational books and reading and/or listening to motivational material. As soon as you get done reading this, life is going to hit you squarely in the face. There will be dozens of excuses and tons of reasons why not. There will be people who want to bring you down, tell you that you can’t do it, prevent you from achieving excellence.
Imagine yourself at the top, garnering the awards, enjoying the fruits of being in the top 1%. What would you look like? What would you sound like? What would you be dressed like? What would you say? What type of people will be with you? Take those thoughts and dress like that person, talk like that person, drive the car that person would drive, carry yourself like that person, and BE THAT PERSON even before you think you are that person! Hey, if it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, and looks like a duck, it must be a duck. Start walking, talking, and looking like the top 1%! You’ll soon find yourself there in rarefied air.
